Root Canal Treatment (CRT)

Root Canal Treatment (RCT) is a common endodontic procedure used to treat infection or irreversible damage in the tooth's pulp (the soft inner tissue containing nerves and blood vessels). Procedure Overview Diagnosis: The dentist diagnoses the need for an RCT through examination and X-rays, often after a patient reports severe pain or sensitivity. Access: A small opening is made in the crown of the tooth to access the pulp chamber and root canals. Cleaning and Shaping: The infected or damaged pulp is removed using specialized instruments, and the inside of the canals is thoroughly cleaned and shaped. Sealing: The cleaned canals are filled with a biocompatible material, typically a rubber-like substance called gutta-percha, and sealed to prevent reinfection. Restoration: A temporary filling is placed, followed later by a permanent restoration, usually a crown, to protect the weakened tooth structure and restore its full function. Key Benefits Saves the natural tooth: This avoids the need for extraction and prevents issues like bone loss or misalignment caused by missing teeth. Alleviates pain: The primary goal is to relieve the severe pain caused by the infection. High success rate: Modern root canals have a success rate of over 95% and can last a lifetime with proper care
